Can you meet people at a local bike shop to go biking with?

Im thinking of going touring. Would it be a good place to meet people to go touring with at a local bike shop?

yeah its a great way to do meet people. I've also met a few people through my local cycling shop. the best people i think to ride with are the employes themselves. don't be afraid to talk about biking and trails and if they'd like to go biking someday.

    Yes you can. Its the best place. At the very least go in and ask them if they do some kind of weekly ride. Just about everyone in a LBS loves biking. When I bought my first mt. bike the owner of the store(small place) invited me to go riding with him, so that he could show me some basic skills, and introduced me to some other riders. I'm still a noob at stuff but the people that I ride with are very patience and are just glad to have someone new to ride with.

    Yes it is, yes I have, and from several shops.

    They also usually know of bike groups that you can join in club rides. Most have literature showing rides in your immediate area.
