This depends on where you live. different bike companies have different arrangements for distribution in different countries, even in different regions of different countries, without knowing where you are planning on opening your business, it is impossible to give you any useful information. You are best off dealing with companies that have distributors close to where you live, otherwise shipping costs will eat into your profits. A simple telephone directory is a useful tool here, a low tech device that actually has listings for businesses in your area. In order to buy from these companies you will have to establish credit, they will not sell to you unless they are sure you will pay them for the things you want to buy. To stock a new store, you will probably need to invest a substantial amount of money. It has been said that the quickest way to make a small fortune in the bike business is to start with a large one.

yes
you have to have credit
plus money to invest and possibly lose
it;s not a good way to make money

i wouldn;t say you are going to *fail*, per se
i would say, i would be very surprised if you ever even get *started*
you are so far from that now it;s ridiculous to be even asking the question you asked

if you're crap you'll go bust, if you're good you'll make money. The fact that you're asking this question at all, let alone here, suggests you're going to fail.
If you go to a bank manager for money I suggest you don't mention how you conducted your business research!

One visit to Interbike in Las Vegas will establish all your vendor connections.
Size-up your competitors and what lines they carry. Aim to offer brands that are not in your local vicinity. Success is mostly about having a big inventory, very skilled and talented techs and knowledgeable salespeople.
The best shops start with about $250-$500k in venture capital
